1st edition of the BODEVI Sant Jordi Photography Contest

For San Jordi there are countless creative contests and BODEVI wanted to adopt this trend to give visibility to the Catalan wine culture with the 1st BODEVI Photography Contest. A total of 8 wineries from all over Catalonia with which BODEVI works, will open their doors from April 1st to 21st to the participants of the contest that will be able to take pictures of the vineyard, the winery and the people who are part of it. This year’s motto will be “Shots of life, shots of vines” and the image that best reflects this idea will be awarded a wine tourism experience for two people and a pack of wines.
“The photograph should best represent the idea of the arrival of spring, but also of the continuity and resurgence of traditions, culture, effort and the desire to live above any circumstance, which we find in the farmers and their land” says BODEVI.
“During the winter, the vines are without leaves, dry, twisted. Come April there is a renaissance with the green shoots appearing slowly but surely. They do this tirelessly, year after year. The proposal consists of bringing this idea of resurgence and permanence to photographs, whether it is capturing how the wine tradition survives in small wineries despite modernity, how they have overcome the difficulties of COVID19 and return to their wine tourism activity or any other aspect that the photographer’s gaze can pick up” they explain to BODEVI.

How to take part?

The contest is open to anyone who likes photography, and you just have to call or write an email to the winery you want to go to take pictures. In order for the photographs to enter the contest, they must be sent by e-mail to indicating the contact details of the photographer and a pseudonym. The images received will be posted on the PADLET platform signed with a pseudonym and Internet users will be able to comment on the images. On April 23, the winner will be announced, chosen by a jury made up of Jordi Casademón and Joan Masats, members of the PhotoClub Poblenou, Barcelona.
If during their stay at the winery the photographers post an image on social networks (facebook, twitter or Instagram) with the hashtag #SantJordiBODEVI and labeling BODEVI and the winery, they will be offered a courtesy glass of wine.
